WCBA in the Community:
Leveraging Law Day to Educate Students about the U.S. Constitution
On May 1st WCBA will recognize Law Day, the annual commemoration held to celebrate the rule of law and cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal system.
How can you get involved?
Attending the WCBA Law Day Breakfast is, of course, a great way to start (more on that later). But what else can you do? How about educating the next generation about the U.S. Constitution and its critical importance to all Americans?
This year, WCBA is encouraging members to visit their local high schools and discuss the importance of the Constitution and their rights and responsibilities as citizens. This doesn’t have to be a solo effort. Two or more members can team up to deliver the presentation. And the best part is, much of the work has already been done.
To help deliver that message Judge David Hennessy has developed an extensive PowerPoint presentation “The United States Government and Your Rights.” He outlined the purpose and value of the presentation during his January “First Monday Seminar Series.” You can listen to his presentation and access supporting documents by visiting the “Seminar Materials” page on the Members’ Only section of the WCBA website.
If you would like to participate in this Law Day activity the WCBA office can help facilitate outreach to your local high school. To get the ball rolling, just fill out the form: WCBA in the Community – Law Day 2026.
Thanks in advance for your consideration to this project that will help educate the next generation about the Constitution and its importance.
